Please just make this program easier to use for those of us who do not have a degree in engineering!!!

Hi @Anonymous

I can definitely sympathize with this request! I would like to steer this topic to something a little more specific an actionable though, otherwise I feel it may just get lost in the pile. If you had to make a sorted list of areas that you'd like to see simplified, what would that look like?

I would love to see:

Easier rendering
Easier ways to light scenes and render with out having to go through a
mountain of stuff that I know nothing about, to get the illustrations to
appear with the correct lighting and without the graininess that often
happens, shadows to appear correctly and not to float or not even appear.
Easier ways to do a walk around- I design exhibits and it would be awesome
to offer my clients a file that has a walk around.
I have been using this program for awhile and although I love what I have
been able to accomplish, being self taught, I do get VERY frustrated at the
level of difficulty that I have.
I have attaache some of my illustrations. there are so many things that I
would like to be ablee to show, backlit graphics, illuminated glass panels,
shadows in the correct areas and colors, etc.

Thing is, there are those who *do* need those detailed settings to get the desired results.  3DSMAX isn't an etch-a-sketch (that's *really* dumbed down, I apologize, but I can't think of another example right now), it's not an entry-level program that you just pick up on day one (or two, or three...).

It sounds like Navisworks Simulate/Freedom may be more along the lines of what you want.  It's easier to use, supports many different formats, has live navigation/walk-through capability, and has rendering which gives decent results without a pile of settings.  Rendering isn't up to the quality of top-level 3DSMAX output but that's the trade-off with simplified controls.
