Zoom Extents does not work properly

I realize I'm jumping from MAX 2013 to MAX 2023, so maybe things have changed, but there is some basic functionality that seems to have been yanked.

In MAX 2013, Zoom Extents would work on  sub-objects like verts, edges, and polygons.

In MAX 2023, I can only get it to zoom on the entire selected object.

So...wuzzup wi' dat?

Shot in the dark, but maybe you are using "Zoom Extents All"?   More info.

I've used all of them, yielding one of two results: Zoom Extents everything or Zoom Extents the whole object currently selected.

Sub-Objects...not so much.

Hmm, in that case maybe the best path forward is to file a support ticket at Manage.autodesk.com.  I can't find any articles about this or anything, maybe related to a plugin or script misbehaving?

I tried collapsing the entire model.

You can see where the selection is, down at the bottom, but the result of Zoom Extents is as you see: everything. The whole model.

I've tried every version of "Zoom Extents" and "Zoom Selected" MAX has...to no avail.

I keep getting emails pestering me to mark this as solved, but it's all kinds of not.

What did the support agent say when you filed a ticket?   You did file a ticket, right?

Not a lot.

First reply was basically a canned response that didn't give me any credit for the easy stuff.
Second reply didn't really apply to my situation.

...then I figured out how to fix it all on my own.

Basically, just made a simple box, attached the borked model to it, deleted the box; now everything works. Badabing.
