Hi guys.
Is there a way to save all the listed below setting I made in my 3ds Max?
- system units and display units
- main user interface
- layer manager and scene manager docked on the left
- constant Reference Coord. System in preferences
- My set of modifiers buttons
- My hotkeys
- snaps settings (like turn off grid and turn on vertex)
- Textures resolution in Viewport Configuration > Display performance
- Viewport settings to High quality
- viewcube turned off.
I can see that some of these settings have options to be saved to files when I set them up. But not all of them.
I even tried to make some tests which actions keep my settings and which don't but I gave up
I've seen the workflow with start.max scene or file (or similar name) which should be kept somewhere in the project folder, but I didn't test it. Can I save ALL the settings and customizations using this feature or any else? So I can just load them at once. I can see I can clear all the options by deleting ENU file but I don't know if restoring backup ENU work exactly opposite way.
There really isn't an "official" way but we keep asking for it. Here's how I do it, see my answer to the OP. It works pretty well and after a couple of times doing it, it's pretty fast, usually 30-minutes or so.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Hi.
I was able to save all the stuff from the list above with maxstart.max scene and the rest is saved in the ENU file. I was able to backup it and revert to default and back to my settings.
The only two expceptions are snaps settings (which are supposed to be saved in maxstart.max file) and Scene mexplorers (I use scene explorer and layer explorer). This is very annoying, also I'm working on a videotutorial showing hw I set my particular setup, it would be great to not leave any of them uncovered.
Maybe somebody knows why my spans settings don't save in the maxscene and if there is an option to somehow save the layers layout as well?
