UV Unwrapping and Automatic UV Flatten on multiple objects but separate UVs

Hi There,

Our problem is that we have a very complex fbx made up from various objects and we want to unwrap and flattern each object and for each object to have its own UV map.

As it stands if we select all the objects and apply a UVW unwrap modifier to them they all share the same UV map, and when we flattern it spreads the unwrapped objects over a giant UV Map.

Is there a way we can unwrap each object and flattern each object without having to manually go through and click on each object one at a time... there are hundreds!

Thanks, Caius.

Hello

I've tried this script and it's really nice! Altho' it works quite well in some of the objects but I get some error messages when I select multiple objects. I'm not quite sure which object gives me this error or what it's related to. I attached the error message below.

Also I added one line to the script which packs the shells better way with the new algorithm:

uv_modifier.pack 2 0.01 on on on

This line is not the one that gives the error, it must be one or some of the 288 objects. I've converted all the objects to editable poly and also reseted the XForms.

I'm using max 2017

Thanks!

Late response, but thanks a lot for your script. (I was also able to painlessly throw in a RelaxOneClick() and expose a few flatten/packing settings by myself 😉 )
