unwrap UVW not updating (Bug?)

Hi,

after 1 hour of trying to find out what's wrong with unwrap UVW and/or UVWmap modifier I found out, that it is simply not updating the UV-Editor whenb I do changes inside the modifier stack.

Example: I change the UV layout in a modifier below, and the unwrapUVW still is shown the old layout (which is not true)

Is that a known bug? Or did I oversee something

(and if a known bug, why isn't it on top in the documentation mentioned?)

Thanks

Could you attach an example archive? I would need to see how to did your stack to get a better idea of what is going on. That being said going down the stack to modify UVs is not recommended workflow. You're not getting the warning below? (I'm clicking on the Unwrap at the bottom of the stack)

I don't get the warning. And I thought it will update on the fly, if I do changes below.

- My test was to create first UVWMap and then over this UnwrapUVW.

When I changed the mapping in the lower UVWmap, the higher UnwrapUVW never updated. (I swwitched it on and off and tried different things to force it to update, but it never did).

So I needed to delete this and create a new UVWMap and then only this showed correctly the current UV map.

(I checked also in Maya, how the UVmap really looked)

I will remember after I have learned that bug, but I wonder if that isn't a known bug.

I thought the purpose of the modifier stuck is that you can change all modifiers and it will update also the which are over the modifier.

Thanks

If that is not correct, please let me know.

That's not a bug.

Lot of modifiers don't care about state down below stack, specially about things they modify...

Smooth, vertex paint, material mod...

Okay thanks, still learning 3dsMax. So I understand the modifier stuck is not a like "non-destructive" construction history. Helps to know this and to be careful 😉
