Unable to Install 3ds Max

Hello.

Due to problems I was having, on top of Max resetting all my preferences because I ran two instances at once I went ahead and reinstalled Max.

Upon launching my newly installed copy of Max, I noticed that none of my problems were fixed, and half of my preferences were saved.

This time I removed all the files in documents, appdata and in Program Files first which was my mistake I'm assuming, then went to uninstall it through control panel when windows said something along the lines of 'this application is already gone, do you want to delete it from the list?'. I removed it, Max was unhappy when installing it so I had to use an application called Windows Install Clean up to officially remove Max.

Now, in an attempt to install Max once more, I am plagued with errors every time I try to install saying the installer 'could not open key: Unknown/Components/[Insert random folder name here].'

I attempted to go into regedit and give everything inside of the Components folder full permission, but Regedit doesn't like it saying 'Registry Editor could not set security in the key currently selected, or some of its subkeys'.

I am now left with having to manually launch the installer, wait 5 minutes to reach a certain point and give me the error, telling me which folder exactly needs me to give permission to.

There is easily thousands of folders in the components folder, it's impossible for a sane person to scroll through them and have to find which ones need permission, or worse wait for the installer to tell me.

I'm installing Max 2016, and I'm out of options right now.

A risky move but I deleted the whole components registry folder since I rather do that than have to reinstall windows or spend days searching for an answer, I assumed it would only hold values for installation of software and wouldn't be necessary after. And it works, max installed fine.
