Texture a complex 3d Model / uv map

Hi,

I'm creating an AR application with unity and I need to show a specific Building at some point.

As I'm a newbie in 3dsmax and modeling in general, I've imported a free STL file into 3dmax, modified it a little bit for my needs, and applied some textures with the material editor through applying the textures to the different surfaces.

I exported the result as an fbx file to unity and now most of the textures are rotated/flipped.

To cut a long story short: the only solution is to use UV Mapping, I've searched tones of tutorials on how to do that, but most time the shapes are either simple square or the model is splitter in different meshes.

but can't find anything on how to texture a complex 3d model.

can any1 help or guide me to a good step by step tutorial?

Thanks a lot

Hello @Anonymous and welcome to the community,

I would start with this one.  The key will be where you put seams for separating clusters which this video talks a bit about.   I hope this helps you!  This one may also be useful.
