Sub-Object Materials

Hi guys,

I am using 3ds Max v8.0.

I have a single object that requires different materials on certain parts of it. All of the materials require a UVW map, some of them set to planar, some set to box,1,1,1, some set to box,5,5,5 and others set to face. I have created a sub-object material with all the assosiated sub-materials.

When I apply the sub-object material to my model all of the materials are correct but the mapping is obviously not correct.

My question is... Can I apply indivdual UVW maps to the different materials in my sub-object material...?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards

Roly

This sounds like 2 issues: 1). assigning different mapping to different parts of you object and 2). assigning different material ID's to different parts of your object.

- Apply a Mesh Select modifier to your object
- In SubObject Polygon mode, select a portion of your object
- Apply a UVW Map modifier; edit as needed: Box vs. Planar... rotate gizmo
- Apply a Material modifier, set it to the appropriate number of your Multi SubObject material

Repeat these steps as many times as necessary.
