(solved) .Max file crashing on open. Any way to edit?

Hello!
I've recently ran into a big issue with my files. Even with the autosaves and frequent save copies, the past 8 days worth of files have become corrupt and cause Max to crash whenever I open any of them. Of course I had no idea there were any issues with these files because I never had to load them, I purely keep working, save, then put my PC to sleep and wake it up the next day without Max ever shutting down. This seems to be my downfall now.

- Generating a fresh ENU folder doesn't do it.

- Switching renderer from DX to OpGL doesn't help.

I have copies of this scene that are older than 8 days that are pretty similar but are missing a LARGE amount of work. I'm able to load one of these scenes and use the 'replace' import option and pick each object I want copied over from the newer file to the older one. Surprisingly, this works, and I'm able through trial and error figure out which object is causing the crash by importing stuff over and over.

I've narrowed it down to one object, I can import every other object from the corrupt file other than this one.

Now, my question is, is there a way I can delete this object from my corrupt files without opening them in max, or is there a way to merge the corrupt files into an empty scene and choose which stuff I want imported?

The replace import is almost a perfect fix, but sadly I have newly created objects in these corrupt files which I believe would be lost because there's nothing for them to replace in my old files.

I really really appreciate anyone's help.

NEVERMIND. Just seconds after posting this I figured out that if you go to file>Import>merge, then you actually get a window that lets you pick and choose.

What I was doing is just drag and dropping my scene onto the viewport, which doesn't give you that option...
