Software license check out error when opening program

Hi!

Sorry, if this is posted in the wrong board, I'm kinda new here and wasn't sure where to put it.

So, the problem is that whenever I try to start 3dsMax I get this error:

"The software license check out failed.

  Error 20"

It simply began appearing today without me removing any files or programs.

I just signed up for the student license a couple of days ago, if it helps.

Do I have to reinstall it or is there a way I can add the license again/reset it?

EDIT:

-Tried reparing it, did not work.

-Tried restarting the Flexnet licensing service.

-Gave me an error: "System cannot find the file specified"

Hi @Anonymous,

Welcome to the community!

Sorry to hear about the issue. Did you try the solution posted on this page, but applied to 3ds Max?

Hi Matthew,

Thanks for the idea. However, I'm using Windows so I don't know if the commands work in the command prompt.

I ended up uninstalling everything and redownloading/reinstalling it and it works now.

Good thing I didn't really have anything personalized so I didn't lose it.
