Soft Selection Menu Disappearance.

Hello, I was logging on today to do some modeling and making a simple terrain-ish thing. So I was layering some plains and getting ready to use my favorite tool, soft selection. And it worked fine at first but then I accidentally moved the menu itself instead of clicking on the soft select drop-down menu. (my mouse was on full speed due to me fiddling with it lately, that's why I missed...) And so when I moved the menu next to the top of the screen it just disappeared. So I thought "Well that was stupid of me." and attempted to rectify this by looking for it trying to reopen it, etc. And after none of that worked I tried to restart 3ds max, and after that failed I attempted to restart the UI's version of the menu itself which also did not work. Which led me here to these forums... And as most know the actual soft-selection tool itself isn't much help without its little menu for falloff, pinch, and bubble. So without those my actual project is at a semi stand still. I would be very open to any help, suggestions, etc.

Thanks,

          A Guy Whom Needs Help.

Hello @Anonymous and welcome to the community!

Wild!  I didn't think it was possible to get rid of those.  This is a unique case, that's for sure.  Are you on 2017?  I wonder if it's minimized and maybe on top of the selection rollout as shown below.

If it's not there, no biggie.  There are two things we can try.   The first option is to see if the rollout is somehow hiding.  To do this, right click on an empty area of the toolbar where Soft Select normally lives and click, Close All.  See if you can see it in that list, and if not, try to "Reset Rollout Order".  With any luck the menu should come back.  Screenshot below.

The nuclear option is to reset your user settings.  Not too hard but it will wipe out your custom hotkeys and things.  Please let me know if you have questions or problems, I am happy to help.

Please hit the "Accept as Solution" button if my post fully solves your issue or answers your question. This lets me know that I was effective in helping you, and thank you for doing so.

EDIT:  One of the screenshots is from 2016 and one from 2017.  Wasn't sure which version you were using so I mixed it up a bit.
