Selection special invert

Hi guys,

I would like to know if there exists a selection functionality, which does the following:

In subobject-mode of an editable poly e.g. some polygons are already chosen.

I want to drag a selection window with the mouse and all the polygons affected by this window should be added to the selection, while the already chosen polygons affected by this window should be unselected.

Somehow I have it in my head, that I used this in max a long time ago.

Can somebody help me with this?

Thanks alot in advance!

Hi @Anonymous,

When doing your drag selection with the Shift key pushed, you should add unselected polygons and remove selected polygons.

Please let us know if that is what you were looking for or not, and thanks for reaching out.

Thank you for your reply!

Unfortunately, this doesn´t work for me, the way it is intended. If I shift-select with a mouse-window, it just adds the faces, same as pressing ctrl.. 😞

Hi @Anonymous

I should have specified that you should be in Select Object mode (Q hotkey), or the below main toolbar button:

Please let me know if it work or not this time and accept solution if it does, thanks.

Hello Daniel,

it works indeed under select objects mode, thank you very much for that!

Is there a way to get this working while under move or rotate as well? Because ideally I wouldn´t want to switch between Q and W or E all the time.

Cheers!
