Save down file version automatically

Is there a way I can save from Max 2019 to Max 2017 without selecting it via the dropdown menu, in the 'Save as' dialog box? Or a way the default 'Save as' state can be set to Max 2017?

Some of the team are using 2017, and I don't always remember to save it down to that version.

Hi, there is a tutorial to allow you to create a button (or a key combination) that can save to a lower version here:

This might be the second best option just in case you have a few scenes that need to be done all at the same time:
