Hello @Anonymous,

I'd like to help you with your asset tracker problem.  It's not clear if you are intending to use vault or not here, so I have a couple questions for you.

1) Are you intending to use vault?  If so, you will need the path/server input here in order for it to function properly.  You may need to talk to your network admin or CG supe for the settings for the server.

2) How are you intending to export this?  To vault, or as something else?  Is the usage of vault unintended here?  What format are you trying to export?

Thanks for answering those questions for me and best regards,

1- I thought that with the active account on vault in 3ds max materials and textures
would be recognized more by what I saw is not

2- I am trying to export my project in FBX or 3DS
but whenever I do it, it comes out without any texture or materials
even with the right mapping

Hello @Anonymous,

Are you able to log into the Vault server?  My assumption here is that your files are locked in the vault, and since you are not logged in, it is unable to access your textures.  Does that make sense?

Hello @Anonymous,

Thank you for your reply.   I will try to help here.  You appear to be entering login credentials here, is there a reason why?  You seem to have a login for this... but no administrator?  Do you own this file?

I don't have 3ds Max 2009 installed, so I will list a few things you can try.

1)If you are not intending to use Autodesk Vault, maybe you could simply uninstall it.  Does Vault appear in your program files in control panel?

2) Do you see the textures in your viewport?  If so, can you open a blank 3ds Max file and File->Import->Merge the items in?

3) Last but not least, maybe you can try to do a resource collection?

Best Regards,

no avail

in my control panel in the event programs and resources

will this be the problem? For some vault deleted files in Autodesk and still remained the error

Hello @Anonymous,

The vault is basically a version control and IP protection for assets.  If your assets are locked in the vault, someone did that intentionally.  Either your project manager or the owner of the IP decided to lock this into the vault.  It's not a big deal that you uninstalled Vault, you can reinstall it.  However, your files are locked in there and without the server name, they won't come out.

You have a username and password for the vault it seems, so it's weird that they didn't provide you with the server location so you can log in and check your files.  However, I don't think you will be able to get those textures without knowing the server name, or talking to the IT / project manager to be given access to those assets.

Best Regards,

Hello @Anonymous,

Can I ask, where did you get this file?  If you want to PM me a link to it I can take a closer look.

Hello @Anonymous,

I was just curious how the assets in the .max file you have were locked into the vault without your permission.  Is there anything you can tell me about the history of the file?

Hello @Anonymous,

The FBX export doesn't automatically include your texture files.  If you check "Embed Media" when you export the exporter will create a subfolder with your textures in it.  Make sure you are using standard materials when you do so.

If this is the issue you've been describing since your first post, I don't think this is related to Vault at all and just a function of the exporter.  Please let me know if you have any questions.
