Hello @GHASEM_ARIYANI,

This is a new one for me!  Very interesting.  Can you verify that your icons still exist at the location:  C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2017\UI_ln\Icons

I set my workspace to match yours but I get actual icons for my submenus instead of just stars everywhere.  (I do get stars for my plugin items, but my interface shows more info here than you are getting and without the edge problems.)

Can you navigate to C:/Users/USERNAME/AppData/Local/Autodesk/3dsMax/(version)/ and rename your ENU folder to ENU_Bak, then restart max?  (If you are missing your appdata folder it's probably hidden, you need to unhide it through windows by clicking Organize->Folder and Search options in any explorer window.)

The next thing I would try is to reset the menu items specifically via the menu command Customize->Custom UI and Defaults Switcher.

Is it fixed then?  If not, you can delete the new ENU folder and rename your old one back so you don't lose any UI changes.  One of the other support technicians had a problem similar to this recently, I've sent her an email and when she replies (She's already gone home for the day)  I'll report back in about her ideas unless I hear from you first.

If one of these things does fix it, please let me know which one so that I can make a note of it.  If none of them do, I'll continue to investigate.  Thank you.

Please hit the "Accept as Solution" button if my post fully solves your issue or answers your question. This lets me know that I was effective in helping you, and thank you for doing so.

Best Regards,

Dear sir, this problem is not new, it was in previous versions since enhanced menu was invented.

Workspaces in 3ds max are totall mess. As an entire UI, if one starts to customize it.

In max 2017 these errors were not fixed once again. There are new features, new bugs for them, but no fixes.

New resolution UI just developed over the old one, wich never was working fine.

Hello @GHASEM_ARIYANI,

I'll put a link to this thread in our bug tracker.  As of Friday we have a new entry in our bug tracking system which does demonstrate this problem.  I was able to reproduce it (and now my icons look the same way for the time being.)  I have un-solutioned the previous post until a fix is made or a workaround constructed.  I apologize for the inconvenience.

Every time 3ds Max starts it'll look for that folder and if that folder does not exist, 3ds Max will re-recreate it.  This folder includes configuration settings and things like that.  Sometimes items within the folder can get corrupted, and it looks like the icons are improperly interpreting alpha.

Hello @GHASEM_ARIYANI,

I wanted to report back that a Max developer contacted me today with a workaround for this specific issue.  I've recorded a video here to showcase the solution. It's a workaround for the time being until this issue is fixed.  I've restarted max about 10 times and it's still showing properly.

There is one caveat:  If you plan on changing your color scheme (ame-light), you need to do it after you uncheck the workspace checkbox on the welcomes screen/template manager, but before you switch to the enhanced menus.  If you have any questions please let me know.

Please hit the "Accept as Solution" button if my post solves your issue or answers your question. This lets me know that I was effective in helping you, and thank you for doing so.
