ParticleFlow + Vraydisplacement + VrayInstancer

Hi Guys,

I made a terrain, and I have a vraydisplacement modifier to add detail. Problem is that the vegetation is scattered using Pflow on the original geometry, so there is a big discrepancy in the rendered result. Is there any way to make the Pflow respect the displacement map?

Hi;

Since Displacement map is considered as a dynamic geometry type, your actual geometry normals will be calculated during render process.

Unfortunately, you can't do this. Your terrain should be a static geometry.

Aight folks. I solved it. There is a force helper called displacement, you can put the displacement map into that, and add it to the Particle Flow event. That way the particles will be displaced the same way as the final geometry.

Wow you couldn't think a way to solve this with all your credentials? :DDD

Hi;

Well, it does not "scatter" your objects on a geometry, it just offsets the same distribution of particles over a displaced geometry. Basically, you just fake it but yeah, it can be  a workflow if your objects on your terrain wont move.

You've asked to scatter objects on a displaced geometry, it's not possible.

You can fake it that way if your objects wont move like cars on roads etc.

Sorry if i mislead you, I guess i needed to make an open explanation 🙂

You're right it was probably a bad question! The right question should have been something like "can you displace particles with a heightmap?" I guess 😄 It's solved now... and thanks for your effort!
