Output 3ds Max directly to a projector?

Hi,

I'm doing a projection mapping project on my house.  I'd like to use 3ds Max to project my 3d model onto my house, and adjust the 3d model while projected on the house.  Is there a way to output 3ds Max to a projector like inside of Adobe After Effects where you can select the projector under "Video Preview".

Thanks,

Bill

I remember watching the camera viewport in stereoscopic 3D on a 3d TV by using a stereoscopic camera plugin provided by Autodesk. It was a very interesting experience bu I saw no one else ever using it. I should remind you that the plugin required a Quadro graphics card as the Nvidia Stereoscopic 3D option required it. Yet, if you can install it on any version you are using, there might be a chance that you can get an image even without a Quadro card as it is required for stereoscopic 3d. But I can't confirm.

Another option could be connecting your projector as a second monitor and opening a Floating Viewport. It has its borders but usnig the Safe Frame (Shift+F) option you can have your determined resolution proportionally projected and fine tune the image scale by mechanical means, which you would do anyway.

Below is the floating window.

Hi Byteman,

That worked great!  I upgraded to Max 2021 two weeks ago and I had no idea you can now float a viewport!

Thanks,

Bill

I did some mapping directly from 3dsmax thanks to datachable viewport and some external software to manipulate the output to dont see any borders:
