Only four grid lines visible (Major lines?) [Issue with setting up the grid]

Hello!
I can't get my grid working in a certain scene (it's no problem for a blank one as it seems). Whatever I type in for the grid settings doesn't seem to have any effect to the grids appearance. There are always only four lines of the grid visible in my viewport which don't extend a lot (cube in the scene is 100x100 cm). Unit settings are set to cm.
I attached screenshots showing my issue.
There was a thread in a similar case (I think there were no lines visible at all) suggesting to change the display driver, which didn't seem to have any effect despite massively decreasing my fps.
I'd be very thankful for any thoughts or recommendations.
I'm working in 3dsMax 2018 – student version.
