Noise algorithm for scientific publication

Hi,

I would like to publish scientific publication where I have used models created in 3dsmax. Models are created using noise modifiers with fractal option.

To publish my work I need to know what is the algorithm behind the nosie modifier and fractal noise.

Is it a Perlin nosie?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Jakub.

Hello @Anonymous,

Yes, I do believe that it is a perlin noise. Neil Blevins has a pretty sweet noise reference on his website, I use it a lot in my projects.  You might find some more technical data there about other noise engines as well.

Please hit the "Accept as Solution" button if my post fully solves your issue or answers your question. This lets me know that I was effective in helping you, and thank you for doing so.

Best Regards,

Hello @Anonymous,

I just wanted to follow up here, did this work out for you?  You can also find more info on the ADN if that helps.

Hi @Alfred.DeFlaminis,

The page you provided is nice but it doesn't give me any proof that this is exactly Perlin noise. You also wrote "I believe..." ;).

I will also ask at the ADN.

Anyway, thank you very much for your tips.

Hello @Anonymous,

That is the best option.  Generally speaking development questions are best answered there.  I hope your paper goes well and have a good week.
