Hey,i am creating a road by using a Spline(using also a Sweep modifier). I have applied some materials to it, the pavement material has a UVW Map, and the asphalt and the curb has UVW Xform. I would like that the materials to remain constant and not depending on how long is the road. Something like PreserveUV's in Editable poly.
I am not using the scene for 3ds max rendering, only for exporting to a game.So i can not modify anything in material editor where all textures are "fixed".
Later edit:The road is working only with 1 segment, if i add another, it looses all materials. Is any other method ?
Here is something that might help. I can't figure out a way to have the texture stick unless the road is perfectly straight. But your's will likey curve and go up and down. Years ago I made myself a template for simple roads. I've attached it so you can play with it. I've also attached a video showing it and showing how the texture sticks to it when you bend it. Once you have it set, just adjust the tiling to get that right.
If this doesn't work for your needs, write back and I'll take another stab at it.

Thank you, yes i have tried with Sweep modifier,now i tried with Loft and after using a UVW Xform modifier, the final result is almost the same. I would have liked that i can apply the UVW Xform not for the entire object,but separate for each textures on the road(asphalt,pavement and curb) so i can adjust each texture,not all at the same time. I also tried setting a texture on Map channel:2,but the Sweep doesnt generate texture coordinates,just for the first map channel,and i don't know why. I wanted to apply one UVW Xform for each map channel.But as i said,the Sweep modifier generate texture coordinates just for one map channel.AND btw, if i apply UVW map or Unwrap UVW, the texture on the road will stretch with the road.But if in sweep modifier i activate "gen mapping coords" and "real-world map size", and after i apply UVW Xform, the texture will remain constant and will not strech with the road.
In the photo below,i just tried, one spline has Loft and another has Sweep.
The thing is that i am building a big map of one town and i have a lot of secondary roads and i was looking in a easier way of creating them,i don't want to arrange the textures for each of them ,but making them in bulk, but i found one solution, i have a straight road with proper textures applied to it and I apply Path Deform modifier along the splines. So with some tweaking, is working like that.
