MCG Face normal to vertex colour - stuck :(

Hi,

 

I've been a maxscripter for many years and recently thought I would try and get into MCG. So I thought I'll start off with something reasonably simple and make a modifier to take face normals and plug the result into the vertex color channel.

2 nights later and many different graphs I'm stuck.

 

I have my facenormal array which I have duplicated each element by 3 for the map verts and I have the mapChannelIndexBuffer, but I cant seem to find a way to link the two together to produce the right output. When I do get an output its as if the element index is not being set correctly.

 

MCG is not very helpful at querying intermediate steps in your graph, its a real handicap, unless I'm missing something.

Ha!  thanks swordslayer! I didnt see that node at all.

I'm just having a little cry inside now, but I learnt other things along the way. I was almost there.
