Logitech Performance MX Mouse

Good morning all,

I am new to the 3ds world, not new to 3d.  Does anyone know how to program a Logitech Performance MX mouse to function in 3ds.  I am running Mac OSX 10.7.5 with Parallels 6, Windows 7 Ulitimate with 3ds Max 2016.  LMB does nothing, RMB does nothing MMB jumps me to my widgets outside of Windows.  I have set the interactions in preferences to ads Max.

Hello;

Did you install the windows drivers of your mouse? It should already be plug&play but i highly recommend you to install them.

Did you experience similar issues with another wired / wireless mouses, or only this model?

Thank you for taking time to reply.  Sadly, no I didn't, however I will.  To answer the latter, I do not have functionality issues anywhere else, I only venture into Windows on my Mac for learning 3ds Max-Autodesk products.  I've debated picking up a windows box just to run these apps.

Sincerely thank you for your time.  I will follow up and let you know if this was resolved.

Regards,

ELR

Sorry to hear that;

Can you try a simple 3 button plug and play usb mouse?

I'll go get one!  Worth the chance.  Thank you again.  Not being a windows guy seems to be creating unnecessary issues for me.  I'm crazy excited at what I see 3ds Max is capable of... Just got to get past this bug....  Best Buy is right down the street.  I'll follow up and let you know.

Hi,

Rather than a 3DSMax problem, I fully suspect that this is a Parallels issue.

Have you tried theses tips?

http://kb.parallels.com/en/115306

This one looks particularly important: http://kb.parallels.com/en/114322

Symptoms: Unable to use Logitech Performance MX mouse back button in Internet Explorer in Windows VM.

Cause: Shortcut key mapping cannot be applied in Windows VM.

Hello @Anonymous,

In my short time in this role I have seen quite a few problems with Parallels and 3ds Max on OSX.  The problems generally speaking don't resolve as from what I've seen this is specifically a problem with Parallels.  If you have the hard drive space, maybe you could boot camp a windows install and see if it works there before grinding too many gears in parallels.

That being said, perhaps the problem is not a lack of drivers, but rather the existence of the logitech drivers.  I would consider trying to remove logitech drivers and go with generic windows ones and see if that helps.  Or, if you have never installed the logitech drivers, maybe giving that a shot and see if it helps at all.  I don't have any notes for problems like this one (due to 3ds Max being a windows only software) but I am interested to see if these help at all.

Best Regards,

Having never used Parallels, and not knowing if it is a VM ASCII translation problem or single bus (Keys are already busy) Parallels problem I would, myself, try to replace the alphabetical shortcuts for the missing buttons in the Logitech control panel (A-Z), and corresponding alphabetical 3DSMax shortcuts to rudimentary keypresses like shift, cursor, and ctrl keys first. Just to see if it worked, like. Localisation of ASCii characters can be a nightmare on international keyboards or fancy mouse buttons. Perhaps more so when funneled from a MAC into a PC, running different OS's.

The age old puzzle of scratching your head while trying to pat ones stomach, in ASCii:

Hello @Anonymous,

I just wanted to follow up here, any progress on your issue?  I'd like to mark @darawork's post as the answer, but I wanted to check with you first to make sure that the issue was indeed with Parallels.

Best Regards,

Good morning.  Sorry for the delayed response.  I would agree it is a parallels issue.  My resolve, I'll pick up a windows machine, not crazy about it however you do what you gotta do right LOL?

Have a great day.

Edward

Hello @Anonymous,

Thank you for the update!  Boot camp might be an option if you don't mind restarting when you need to switch, might be less expensive.  Best of luck on your project and thanks for keeping me informed about your issue.  Have a great weekend!

Best Regards,
