Is Autodesk looking to replace Max?

Seems over the past few releases Autodesk has pushed Maya to the public over Max, better new features etc.

Does anyone have any information on is? I still think Max is a better modeling package but why keep using a program that's going away?

I would re-examine those impressions carefully for yourself: in the recent 1-2 years, 3ds Max support level by Autodesk has gained a tremendous boost and you'll notice things have turned around  quite remarkable.

BTW:

3ds Max was never in a situation where it might get replaced anyways to begin with ...

Marketing favored Maya for a long time though, that is indeed true ...

3DSMAX is being turned into an advanced visualization tool for the engineering products, such as Inventor and Revit, thanks to better workflows and inclusion of the product in the Suite and Collection licenses.  There's only so much work you can put into those products for rendering/etc. before core development starts to suffer and you start duplicating work already done with the 3DSMAX product.
