Importing .obj does not show geometry

Hi there,

Noticed this issue after upgrading max from 2017 to 2018.4. When importing an .obj no geometry is displayed however stats indicate the correct amount of verts and polys. The .obj is not corrupted, it works in other 3D packages.

I exported a test teapot.obj from 2018.4 and was surprised that when I tried to import it back into max the same issue occurred, no verts or polys can be seen. Unhiding also does nothing.

Anyone else experience this issue?

Hi @Anonymous,

I tried to repro your issue following your description, but without success.  Can you give us more details, e.g., what option your used to import the .obj file?  And the options you used to export a Max scene to .obj?  If you can share your .obj file with us, we can take a look.  You can send me the file using PM.

Thank you,

Libei

Hey there,

I've included the teapot file that I created inside Max 2018 and a couple of screenshots of the import/export window. I might also add that the issue I have happens on both home and work pc's.

Thanks in Advance

Errr..... I found the solution. It seems to me that object scale was set to 0.0

Strange, is this a default setting?

Hi @Anonymous,

I'm glad you resolved the importing problem.  The default object scale is 1.0.  I have checked it on different Max versions and on different OS.  You may have a preset that overwrote this setting.

Please don't hesitate to contact us when you have questions or suggestions.

Thanks Libei,

Default object scale set to 1.0 makes total sense. Something must be going on to overwrite these settings.

Thanks for your help!
