Importing .blend files

I'm trying to import a model into MAX just to have a look at how other people have models certain parts of characters which have always given me trouble.

Problem is, nearly every site offers files in formats other than MAX, which is frustrating.

I'm trying to import Blender files--because that's what they're got--but MAX is demanding a .fbx extension and cannot even see .blend files.

So...what do I do? How do I import a .blend file into MAX?

As far as I know, you don't without some plugin that might handle .blend imports.  But you can export an FBX out of blender which then goes into 3dsmax.   Blender is free so there's no cost other than the time it takes to figure it out.

Best Regards,

I mean, thanks for the info.

Though whomever at Autodesk didn't think importing Blender files was important functionality should at least lose their parking space. Just sayin'.

I doubt you still care, but you can open in blender, then got to File -> Export -> .fbx, to export as a FBX file.
