Imported Obj is bright white

Anonymous
Not applicable

I must have changed something (new to 3Ds Max) because now when I import any obj file it is bright white. I tried the vertex paint and that is not the issue. What could have caused this, can I rest everything to default maybe?

While trying the vertexPaint solution I now have a dull grey object.

It looks like a frozen object 'Show Frozen as Gray'. Have you made a new material, not gray, but say, dark blue and added it to the imported object to see if it looks ok?

There are a number of things that could be wrong. Can you upload that file so it can be looked at? Also, what version of Max? It's always good to mention that as well as what render engine you are using.
