How to repeat SliceMesh node?

Hi,

I want to slice a mesh using SliceMesh node. But it only can slice into 2 pieces.

I wonder how can I slice a mesh n-times, where 'n' is a variable parameter. Any ideas?

Hello,

with the slice modifier, you just can cut into two pieces.

But you can potentially add a second and a third slice Plane modifier to the object.

Or you can try to cut an object with a Boolean operation. Therefore create a Compound object called Boolean.

I hope that is helpful.

Best Regards,

hmm...pretty sure Piotr wants an answer with MCG, not the normal modifier.

I was studying the ASlicer MCG actually, made some mods here:

http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/mcg/mcg-slicerrot

then I looked at the 'Slices' compound to see what's going on in there but haven't quite figured it out yet.

Well, it's actually easier for me to give you a sample modifier for you to dissect than to explain. I'm using Aggregate, feeding it the starting trimesh, applying a function that takes the index of the cut and slices the mesh accordingly, outputing the sliced mesh to be sliced again in the next step. Here you go:

wow talk about timing, without reading your solution first I'll tell you my idea...I'm thinking of a real meat slicer at the butcher shop.

The blade is fixed in place (say origin) I move my piece of meat towards it, it slices a slice off, i'll have to move the rest of the meat a bit more forward, it slices more off, repeat...I got something going but very very crude, I can cut into multiple pieces but the results is far from desirable...But I'll have a look at yours now....I'm sure it works.

Thankyou very much again SwordSlayer, you've been very kind !!!
