How to pin all edges of a plane in noise modifier.

Hello, friends!
I am in 3ds Max 2019. I have a Galleon ship and I want to add wind simulation to the sails. I don't want to use the Cloth modifier, where I can attach the edges of the sail to the wooden mast. I cannot have the animation I want, this way.
The sails have been designed to be waving, so I want to make it simpler and just apply a noise modifier to the sail plane. But the problem is that I cannot pin the plane's edges to the wooden mast and it distorts as a whole. I want to apply the noise modifier to the sail surface but not to the edges, as well, so it looks that the sail is attached to the mast.
Is there any way I could do that?

Thanks a lot!
Yiannis.

Yes, you can: select the vertices you want to be affected and apply the Noise-modifier (apply in vertex-mode, not in object-mode). To soften the affected area you can also use SoftSelection.

CAUTION: the Noise-modifer affects the selection you pass from the previous modifier (Edit Poly, Poly Select, ...) - so make sure, you leave that previous modifier with the desired selection every time you edit it!
