3DS MAX 2014 Ex.Pack 6 + VRAY

Samsung 4k 28' monitor with DP pluged  + 21' AOC Monitor with DVI pluged

3ds max running at 2560 X 1440 res.

Issue: Main display off while render scene and then MAX crush . Hppening more often in ADAPTIVE SUBDIVISION mode.

have to say it was not happened at all  before ive replace my GTX from 760 to 1070 . My rig was the same . Graphic card is the only thing was changed.

1070's driver is always up to date and max as well .

I would like to know if there is some solution Or if Autodesk plan to fix and support this card ?

Thank you

please don't flame the room in others words don't reask the question when it's already been answered! i already gave you a link to the recommeded and certified autodesk VGA cards and the GTX1070 is not in the link i gave you so it will not be supported by autodesk

the GTX1070 is a gaming card not a 3d software card from what i am reading online!

Hello @Anonymous,

I also posted in your other thread, to prevent repeating all that I'll ask a few questions.  Does this only happen with Vray?  That card came out much later than 2014 so it's very likely that the plugin and that version of Max are not built with this in mind.  Adaptive subdivision is also an older image sampler method, what happens if you use Bucket or Progressive?

EDIT: Is your power supply sufficient for the new card?

Hi,
I use vray 3.5 and updated.
I make architectural visualisations so i use adaptive and adaptive subdivision method more ofthen becouse its better sampler.
Max crashes while rendering in 1280X720 resolution and above .
My main 2560X1440 screen is off and the render window shows up only on the smaller dvi screen.
I had gtx 760 before and all was fine . Nothing has been changed except the 1070 card.

Thank you

Hello @Anonymous,

Vray 3.5 is in Beta and it's an unfinished product.  As a result this issue should likely be directed at the Chaosgroup team.  Does this only happen when you use Vray?

Hello @Anonymous,

No problem, it happens.  Smiley Happy  Can you please list your current power supply and motherboard for me?   Which version of Windows are you using?  Does this happen if you unplug one of your monitors?

Whoa @Anonymous, you're getting blue screens?

Generally that is not caused by Max but by a system problem.  My first thought is that some of your old graphics card driver files have somehow been left behind or there is another hardware issue going on.  You may want to try to completely remove your graphics drivers and wipe out all traces of them, reboot, and reinstall the graphics card drivers.  (Most likely.)  Simply uninstalling the NVIDIA drivers is sometimes not enough for some people, so there are processes on the net to wipe out all traces of old drivers.  Or, maybe just a reinstall of the drivers would help.

Or, your power supply while enough watts may not be very stable.  There may also be other system problems which can be seen in the event viewer logs if you want to attach them or look them over.  One thing I can say with confidence is that if you are getting blue screens, that's not coming from Max but Max may be revealing it. Those come from driver and system problems most of the time.

Is your old card still in the machine as well?

Hello @Anonymous,

Thanks for the update!  The image didn't attach to the message, so I'm not sure what information was within it.  This normally happens if the image isn't fully loaded before hitting "Done" when attaching images.  Those three circles are a loading bar (a bit confusing sometimes) and once the picture is uploaded those three circles go away and then pressing Done will save the image.  Otherwise the image gets dropped.  If you don't mind reattaching that would be awesome, and thank you.

Hello @Anonymous,

I'm working on collecting information from various users about issues with their viewports.  Can you please let me know your current driver version and version of Windows?  Thank you very much!  The thread where I am collecting all this information is here.

Accepted solution

Just following up in this thread, I got confirmation by @Anonymous in another thread that his issue was solved.  Pasting his answer below.

"Hi ,

Im glad to tell you that my issue is gone .
Ive been talking to Microsoft support and they checked it by connecting my PC and helped me to update windows 10 .
My Operation system was not updated right and there were a few failure updates .
After there support - all been fine and everything works.
V-ray render works as well and it seems stable for now.

Thank you very much"
