Hello @all!

I wanted to post a scene here that you might have some fun with, it's a simple cartoony city featuring a stylized and lighthearted version of some interesting Italian modern buildings.  It's a light scene, 500k polys, modeled by yours truly.

I included some scatter objects on the side in case you wanted to use them. I setup MatID's, layers, naming, etc. so you don't have to bother at all there.  I tried to remove all traces of plugins but if you see anything, just send me a PM and I'll update the .zip.  Feel free to make modeling changes or remove, scale, and move any objects.  This is just something to have a little fun!  Thank you!

Looks like I had some mats left over in particle flow that I forgot about as well as a hidden render element in render to texture.  Fixed and updated.  I also unlinked a sound file I had leftover.  Thanks!

Hi, is it possible to see some renders?

Is it the place to post our render of this project?

Thanks!

Please do, I'd love to see it!

I used this city for a bid that we had like... 3 days to do because we found out about it a bit late.  We didn't win.  Smiley Indifferent  I'd love to see what others have done with it!  I was going to post my image at some point...

Here's a couple stills.  The idea was meant to be that the city was dirty at first and each shot shows the city with a new green power source getting more and more clean.  I don't get to do a lot of cartoony stuff and it was fun.  I used Filter Forge a lot for some of the textures.

I had to take out any turbosquid models for this thread but the cars, buses, solar panels, and windmills were purchased.

Hello,

well the first thing that came to my mind when opening the Alfred`s file was:

The textures that was used for this image where from a CD that accompanied this book by Jon Bell. Sadly i can`t find it anymore.

So, Jon if you read this: Thank you for this book!

However i found something else: Anyone remember these?

That is rockin!  Nice work @Anonymous.  I have sent Jon the link to this thread.  Normally he sits 2 feet to my right, but today we all work from home due to an ice storm.  Very cool work!  Smiley LOL

Thanks Alfred, it`s not finished though. I wanted to add some spaceships and astronauts in the foreground but ran out of time.

I also used Tom Hudsons Greeble-plugin.Didn`t realize he recompiled it for the 2017 release until now.

Hi Aon,

Thank you for the nice words -- I appreciate it!

I still have U.S. and non-English-language editions of my books sitting around, so if there's something you're missing from the accompanying CD, please let me know!

Best regards,

Hello @Anonymous,

That is cool!  I'm really happy with the trees especially, you really did a good job making them look cool via shader.  I also like the muted blues on the windows, and the flock of birds on the horizon.  Love it!

@Anonymous,

I meant to mention that the scene really sits well in the background and the highlights on the glass really make it feel like a space scene.  What a fun render.

I can't stop smiling over here, it's so cool to see other end results of something I only ever saw 1 way.  Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Aon and Alfred, i think i will put some work on my background and the sky. It's only a simple daylight system with a cloud image, mapped in the Mr physical sky. I want to keep it simple, and that would be easier to compose in Photoshop. But i think that the Friday picture is to celebrate 3ds Max 🙂

Have a nice weekend.
