Exporting an ipt file with color information to a VRML file

Hey guys,

I want to export an ipt file to an vrml file. I generated the ipt part via Autodesk Inventor Professional 2015. In there, I changed the color of the part to a specific RGB-color (purple for testing). (picture1)

Then I imported the ipt file to Autodesk 3DS Max 2015 selecting "meshes" (picture2).
The color seems to be imported correctly, though it looks a bit lighter. (picture3)

Now there comes the tricky part: exporting it to a .wrl file.
No matter how I change the export settings (picture4), reopening the wrl file afterwards shows me no colors or at best a rather strange, scattered purple color.

I have no experience with the software 3DS Max.

Does anyone know how to do this correctly?

Regards,
Janis

In addition I found this post about the same topic: http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-general-discussion/going-from-inventor-to-vrml/td-p/3124022

Especially the pictures from the last post motivated me to do it this way, though I couldn´t replicate the results seen in the pictures from the last post.

I never tried exporting to vrml or wrl, so this is just a suggestion to try. Since you are just using a solid color, assign a a standard max material to the object, changed the color to that which you want, this will replace the Inventor material. Then try exporting and see if the color went with the object.
