Every Viewport Stuck in Wireframe Mode

Anonymous
Not applicable

I've recently run into this problem where every time I load 3DS Max (2016) on my laptop at home, every viewport defaults into Wireframe mode. Usually a quick change in the viewport options would solve this, but now every time I change it from wireframe (to say realistic) the model disappears, and only returns when I change the viewport back to wireframe. To be clear, the program was running fine with no problems for weeks before this.

I have looked into various settings, preference menus and have even completely uninstalled the program and reinstalled it to be faced with the same exact error upon reopening it.

I've read some other forum posts and have seen this has been an issue in various iteratiuons of Max, and wondered if anybody has a fix for this problem?

Hi,

Hopefully following these steps will fix the GUI problems: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/3ds-max-design/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles... (Uninstalling MAX via Add/Remove will not change this folders location or contents... so uninstalling as you did will leave any UI problems remaining).

You will lose toolbar customisations and any changes you may have made to workspace layouts, so there is a bit of a trade off.

If you rename the ENU folder rather than deleting it, you can always rename it back with MAX closed to reverse the process.

If this doesn't solve it, we can try other steps.
