Hello @Anonymous and welcome to the community!

You could do this a number of ways.  You could use Cut, Slice Plane (on selected faces), or maybe Divide.  

The best bet would be to use the numerous tools in Editable Poly.  With that, you could select two edges and use the 'Connect' tool, you could select a face and use the "MSmooth" button to subdivide it, you could go to verts, edges, or faces and use the Cut tool, and you could also use Slice Plane.  More information here.  I hope this helps and let me know if you have questions.
