Drag and drop max 2019 doesn't work

Hi Everyone.

Is it normal that when drag-dropping a max file in max19 nothing happens? Usually, in the older versions, i had a small box popping-up where i could choose to merge, open as a new scene or xref the external file. Now nothing of this happens. The only way is to drag the max file onto the upper bar and it will be merged automatically (but not selected like before, so i have to go through the scene to find the merged object). No way to open it as new scene or xref it. Also: before i could drag-drop images to apply them to object, also this doesn't work anymore.

Any help? In our company we use 90% objects from libraries, it's fundamental to have this option back.

Thank you

I just restarted 3ds max. I don't know if it is some kind of bug... Sometimes it happens

I'm using 2020 and have the same issue. After some time working in max drag&drop stops working. There is no dialog showing. Only solution is to use menu file>import>merge or restart max. I used to work on 2017 and it worked flawlessly there.

I had this problem and I fix it by going to file properties, security, and make full control for the file.

  • Hi everyone. This is how I solved that issue. Click on icon (right mouse button) on "select and move" to open "move transform type-in" small window and do drag and drop in this small window. It's working! I hope that would work on your 3ds max version.
  • See attached screen shot.

Thanks

The drag and drop onto the move transform dialog worked.  Thanks for the tip!
