Distance Fog with Arnold

Hey all,

I have added a Fog to my Arnold render settings and sure enough it acts like fog across the surface.. great, but I was hoping to try and get that hazy sort of distant fog for my forest scene, not a complete blanketing of fog.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to achieve this.

Thanks heaps.

S.

You need to change the Arnold fog settings to suit what you need. Arnold fog is better integrated in Arnold.

It won’t update with ActiveShade as it is a render setup setting. You need to click render for any change be rendered.

Take a look to this video last part. It is for C4D but the menus are similar

These are the main settings:

Notice that by default the fog is layered but you can change it with the fog settings to make it less layered. By definition the fog will be denser when further away, you can play with density to allow better visibility. Obviously if you use very dense setting a non layered fog will look like a grey wall.

And you could have more specific settings changing the angle and position of the fog plane, as shown in the video.

Thanks for the assistance.  I tweaked pretty much every setting in the Arnold fog to come up with the below effect.  Not quite what I was looking for, but I liked this outcome.

Cheers.
