Creating Solid Objects

I am very new at this and this may be a relatively easy problem to solve, but I can't find anywhere to solve it. Anyways, I cannot seem to automatically create solid objects when making anything in 3ds max and when I have a downloaded .max file to see if there is a difference, there isn't. I can only see the edges in all objects. If someone can please explain how to make it so it's creating solid objects immediately into the platform that would be highly appreciated. (I've attached an image to show what I mean.)

Hi, 3ds Max does not create solids per se ( not in the sense that Autodesk Inventor or Solidworks does) It is not a 3d solids modeling program.

I suspect what you want to do is view the part in a mode other than wireframe? In the upper right hand corner of the viewport where it says [wireframe] right click this and change the mode to smooth+highlights.

let me know if this works for you -

Was this imported from another software package?
There's something wrong as it says [Shaded + Edged Faces] in the top left of the viewport.
There could be something set incorrectly in the viewport settings, but can't think what.

Try selecting the object and then 'Save Selected', then reset the scene from new, and then merge the object you just saved out. There may be some erroneous errors in your original scene that is messing something up. I reckon the reset and then merge into the new scene will do it.
If not, there's something in your viewport settings.

Good eye jibijib - I didn't see that and I would have had to rethink another answer..
