Hi I'm new to 3DS max. I have the 2016 student version. I installed this on my laptop which meets all system requirements but is running on Windows 10. Program installed and worked initially then the command panel went missing. I followed instructions to restore default.ui files. Thought this worked as my command panel is back but now but having some other issues. When the colour palette opens it is missing buttons at the bottom (confirm, ok, custom), can't create a custom colour and apply materials isn't working.
Is there a way to fix this or should I try to reinstall?

Hello @Anonymous,
Welcome to the community!
Technically 3ds Max 2016 isn't officially supported on Windows 10, but many users do have it working properly. Let's take a look and see what can be done here.
Chances are that the buttons missing is a simple UI issue. Let's start with the follow things to try.
1) Start 3ds Max and go to Customize->Custom UI and Defaults Switcher and load a new UI there. (Default is fine, you can just hit "Set".)
2) If that fails, let's reset all your user settings.
3) If that fails, let's try a different display driver within 3ds Max.
I have a strong feeling that one of those will fix the issue, but please keep me posted and if none of them does we'll dig deeper.
Please hit the "Accept as Solution" button if my post fully solves your issue or answers your question. This lets me know that I was effective in helping you, and thank you for doing so.

Hi Alfred, sorry I just got to this tonight. The 2nd option you provided worked perfectly. Everything seems to be back to the way it should be. The location on my computer was different so had to do a search to find the folder but other than that it was really easy.
Thanks so much I appreciate your help.
Hello @Anonymous,
No problem at all, I'm glad it worked out for you! Have a great weekend and have fun creating!
