Hello, I recently downloaded and installed the student free trial 3DS max 2020, when I tried to start it the following message appears:

Lincesing error.PNG

I tried to solve the problem with this solution (Windows part ) : https://knowledge.autodesk.com/search-result/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Licensing-Error.html

Now the following message appears:

Clock error.PNG

I tried these solutions:

1. https://knowledge.autodesk.com/search-result/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Clock-Error-Check-that-y...

2. https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/installation-licensing/clock-error/td-p/6979076

3.https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/a360-drive-forum/a360-wrong-system-clock/td-p/6991178

But none of these solutions worked for me...

I will be happy if someone can help me.

I'm not sure if you downloaded the wrong one @brentscannell do you have to register your serial number to convert a 30 day trial into a student version? or does the student version give you a 3 year right away once you have register it!

Hello @Anonymous,

As of right now, I see you have access to a student license for 3ds Max 2019 not for 3ds Max 2020. Keep in mind that for each product & version you wish to have access to & receive in your Autodesk Account visit the  "Free Software" page & select it from the drop-down. So go back to the page & select the proper version.

  • Your Educational Account & "Free Software" page will provide you with all the information you will need to download, install & activate. You will also receive an email containing your Serial# & product key, the information will appear in your Autodesk Account in 24-72hrs.
  • If you have already selected the product on this page, it is registered & should also be available in your Autodesk Account under the "All Product & Services" it will appear in your Autodesk account in 24-72hrs.

Change License Type to Student License

  1. At the top-right of the screen select the drop-down help drop down.pngtriangle  next to the User Name.
  2. Click “About (Product)” then click “Manage License...” to open the License Manager screen.

 3. The License Manager feature will allow you to:

  • “Change license type” to pull up the “Let’s Get Started” screen at launch to reselect (Sign In, Serial Number, Network Licensing)
  • > Drop Down to update your Serial Number & Activate

I downloaded the 3ds max 2019 after the 2020 and I received my license for the 2019 version, now I will uninstall the 2020 ans use the 2019 version.

Thanks for your help.
