Changing UI text display sizes without changing entire computer text sizes

Hi guys!

I'm new to 3DS max and running it on my laptop. When I open the program, all my settings panels and toolbars have the text all crunched up as shown below. The text is very close together and overlaps/runs off the page. From other posts, I was able to resize the computer display from 250% to 150%, which solved my problem of the spacing and text overlap being all weird. However, now all my text on all of my programs is so tiny I can barely read it - about 4 or 6pt font. Is there any way I can solve this without making all my text tiny?

Thanks!

Hi Tiffany,

An alternative to using the scaling is to reduce the display resolution, that should prevent the 3ds Max issue and have readable text.

If you are using an older version of 3ds Max (early 2018 versions and older) updating to a more recent version would  improve the support for high res monitors.

I hope this will help, please let us know if it does or not.

Hello Daniel,
I'm facing the same problem as Tiffany.

I'm currently using 3ds Max 2022. The only way I could get the text to be visible is by scaling down the display setting all the way down to 150%. Is there a way I could solve this problem without having to minimize all the text and icon sizes?

We are investigating and trying to reproduce this issue, it look like the issue only happen on laptop with 4K resolution, and we are suspecting that some non English Windows operating system languages might be playing a role to triggering the issue. It also seem to affect only the English and Brazilian 3ds Max languages, using another languages could be a workaround for some people. Here a link to another forum post about the issue: 3DS MAX 2020 4k monitor DPI problems still

:megaphone:Can people affected by the issue describe their system (laptop/desktop model) and operating system version and languages? Thanks.
