Bake Texture - Advanced Wood UV Mapping

Hello,

I'd like to bake the advanced wood texture of a object. I use Corona render as an engine and when I use the Render to Texture I get a black output. Any ideas if and how it can be done? I want to render the UV Map so I can use this in other software/versions of 3D Max.

Thank you,

Kevin

Hi there,

I tried a lot of different ways and i would either get a black render or Max will crash. However, one time I was able to get a rendered texture. I set up Scanline Renderer as a default renderer in Render Settings, I connected the diffuse color from the Advanced Wood Map to the diffuse color in Standard Material (I know that Physical is recommended but it doesn't work for some reason) and I applied the material to a basic Box Primitive. Then I rendered to texture and at first I thought that it's still not working because it was half black in the preview and messed up, but the .jpeg that was saved was okay. (I will provide screenshots of the setup and the results below). It's unfortunate that such a great option like Advanced Wood is so limited and hard to use actually, and there isn't almost anything on the internet for it, so you basically have to figure everything out for yourself. I am a student and I use student version of Max, so I don't actually know much (in case you have any technical questions). Hope I helped.

Good Luck.

I'm not 100% familiar with Corona levels of support, but can you do normal renders with Corona using the Advanced Wood texture? It's possible it's just not supported at all, and may not be related to the Render to Texture tool.

Although not directly related to the main question, but regarding your specific comment — yes, Corona renders perfectly fine with the Advanced Wood texmap, all you need to do is connect the Advanced Wood outputs to corresponding CoronaLegacyMtl or CoronaPhysicalMtl sockets (Diffuse, Roughness and Bump).

How do you use the UV Mapping for your baking? I know you can set the Advanced Wood to Explicit Map Channel and then use the UV Map modifier on your object with mapping set to XYZ and then use the created UV map from that point. I often use this method when I need some of the UVs rotated on the model. Not sure this comment is heplful for baking, just sharing my piece of knowledge.
