Hey all.
I made a simple test trying to export hair from 3ds max to unreal engine 5 groom object.
and even though the hair and fur modifier is ancient i think it is still quite capable for a lot of things.
the workflow is to turn your hairs to splines and export the spline objects as alembic. Then in unreal check that you have the groom plugins enabled and just import the alebic in unreal engine and have some real time hair fun.
The problem is that exporting 20000 splines (witch is not a lot for hair) took an hour give or take.
on my old intel I7-5820K it used less than 10% of cpu and my I9-13900K it less than 7% when exporting.
I also tried 150k and let export the all night 6h or more and it was still not done so i killed the proses.
And yes I know that Ornatrix exports hair to alembic but would rather like the 3ds max alembic export to work with splines.
Thanks!
Hank
