Friends hello, I switched from the i5 10400F processor to the I9 12900K processor and when I reinstalled the system.
The company I work for wants us to use Physical Materiel in Vray, and I was working comfortably before, but
when I switch to the new processor, I tried it in the 2020 and 2022 versions, the program is crashing, I'm adding the necessary below.
I also bought a new laptop, i7 12700H processor, I'm having the same problem with it. Dec.
Guys, I'm really in a difficult situation, I need your help.

What if you use a Default Physical Material with no maps attached. Does it still crash?

If not, then there may be some corruption in your bitmaps for that wood material. Try completely different maps for each of those, maybe from a different source and see if another one renders OK.

If it does crash with a defualt material, I'd say uninstall VRay an do an ENU reset. If it still crashes after that, I'm not sure what to tell you be we could do some other tests and chase it around.

A final workaround is, and it sounds kind of silly saying it, just don't use Physical Materials. Tell your company that V-Ray can use them but that it really prefers its own materials. Problem solved.

If the company wants physical materials, then this user cannot really say no though...

Here's the thing, Vray really wants Vraynormalmap nodes, not the standard 3dsmax normal map nodes.  That particular node is the default 3dsmax one, at least it appears to be.   Even though you are using standard materials, I believe that vray always expects the proper normalmap node.  Doesn't explain why it used to work though, but all things considered you'll have faster renders in general with the Vraynormalmap node.  Can you try it?
