3DSMAX FILES CANT OPEN

Hello, I'm, posting here because this is my last resort with my problem.

You see, I had made some scenes/files via the app using one of my College's computers in our Laboratories (used my student email to make my Autodesk account). They were unfinished and I wanted to finish them on my laptop, so I asked our instructor if it would be possible to access the files on a different computer, and he said yes. I then saved my files and using a different email account for sending it via Google Mail, I sent the files to my student email. When I got back home, I installed 3DsMax here via this website and did all the necessary steps to ensure everything would run smoothly. Once it was finished downloading I then went to my student email to download the files I sent there. Thankfully, the app and computer were able to read and recognize the file as a 3dsmax file.

My issue here is that it cannot fully open nor access it because it says that "the file was made on the latest 3dsmax version. The app that I currently have is an old version". Mind you, I just downloaded it off of this website so it's impossible that it didn't download the latest version. 😥

I need your help because my grades are at stake. I'm a newb with this application as well so I don't know what I did wrong. 😢

You just need to upgrade your Max version on your laptop to be the same as the college computer's version. The college is using Max 2025. It appears that you have Max 2024 on your laptop.

If you can upload the file I'll save it backwards for you.

Thanks for the tip. I'll try updating the app first, how do you do it? I can't seem to find it. Do I manually change something within the system for it or is it a file that needs to be downloaded as well?

You need to go to your account and login at Autodesk.com. After you sign in go to the first tab on the upper left 'Products' and open that. On the right you'll see 'Download your Software.' Search that for an update. But, if you have Max 2024 and need Max 2025, you'll have to probably pay to upgrade to Max 2025. If you already have Max 2025 and just need the patches, I think there are 3 of them, you'll find them. I don't think you need to install each one. I think if you get the latest one you can just install that. But, you'll need to read the release notes to make sure. I'm not positive.
