3Ds Max Measurement Tools Measure Distance and the usage of measure

3ds Max has measurement tools similar to AutoCAD's, but the method and the names are quite different. For example, in 3Ds Max there are 2 types of measurement tools; one of them is Measure Distance and the other one is Measure. In theory these tools are the same but they give the best results. Let's take a look at these two.

  1. Measure Distance :

The method of Measure Distance is that it chooses the distance between the point and B and measure it.

As you see on the Picture above, if you follow the steps you will find that the height of the BOX is 35,213 mm and if you choose those two points with more sensitive selections, the results will be more accurate.

Measure :

When you click on any subject on your 2D or 3D stage, it gives the exact size of the image and it is %100 right. When you work with this tool you will always have the exact measures on your work.  Let's take a look how to use it.

As you see on the Picture above, it is a tool which is not very complicated to use; it is, in fact, really easy and gives you the exact results.

for measuring a simple box.... this method is great.

however, most people measure other things than boxes that are aligned perfectly to the x,y,z world coordinates.

AUTODESK should develop a measuring tool similar to sketch-up's measure tape.
