3DS Max Indie price renewal marketing *sorted

Update:

Good to see this is sorted: got a renewal email with an actual reduced price, impressed.

Edited original message to remove negative search information.

Would be really nice to see an official answer to this very legit question???

Thanks Brian - I will probably chase up a support email if this isn't sorted here before my subscription expires. I am never one to complain about pricing models or cry about how the customer should be treated, but that is mental and I really felt I had to say something. It's one thing increasing the indie price, fair enough I guess - not ideal... but trying to sting us with the normal price after luring to click an auto-renew button? What the hell?

Just checked the Indie Price i would get here now ( Austria/Europe )

And it's now arround €340,- something and it definitely was in the €2xx,- range a few months back

So indeed the indie licensing seems to have received a HUGE price increase over the course of the last few months

I just came across this thread as I am currently looking at the option of an Indie subscription.

Someone from Autodesk must clarify what's going on with the pricing.  Is it even confirmed that an Indie license is available at the discounted price after the first year??

Why am I not surprised...

Update.

I contacted a live support agent at Autodesk about this.

She told me not to turn on auto renew and to buy the indie version again - so Autodesk support telling me not to do what the email told me to do. "AVOID LOSING YOUR SPECIAL PRICE" (lol).

Crazy.

Support agent then said I could try contact the sales team.

Disappointing lads...

Hi everyone,

The auto-renewal price for anyone with Indie should be the same as the first year and not jump to full price. (There was an issue with the first adopters of Indie where the website tried to renew at the regular price, but that should've been fixed. If anyone encounters this, please contact us so we can process a refund.)

Regardless, I'm pinging some members of the accounts team to see if they can investigate why these price changes are happening for some folks and I'll see if we can get some answers for you. Thanks!

Hi Jon,

Appreciate the reply!

Is there any direct contact for myself or anyone affected? Should I just rebuy indie at the new price then and not use the auto-renew link?

Thanks,

Jonny.

I'll chime in and say that I concur with jon.bell - it did used to behave like that, but now, if I try to renew, the renewal price is showing as being close to the original price I paid for the Indie version, albeit a few (like 20) dollars more.

As an Indie Freelancer, I really appreciate this step Autodesk has taken to provide the software we love at a price that is affordable to people like myself.

Hi @Red171 ,

If you haven't already, yep -- I would just buy another year of Indie and turn off Auto-Renew. (I have an Indie version of a non-Autodesk application for home use, and I don't get renewal notices or auto-renew -- when it runs out, I just have to re-purchase another year. However, I can check when my renewal date is in my online account.)

Hope this info helps!

I just encountered this phenomenon yesterday myself. Renewal is full price. I'm glad had auto-renew off, and I'm glad I found this thread.

I just checked on this a couple weeks ago and it's absolutely still the case. I contacted support and they advised me that I had to let my license lapse, then purchase a new indie license to avoid paying full price. I couldn't even pay early (the increased US indie price) because that would open 2 licenses for me, rather than allowing me to just PAY YOU FOR MY PRODUCT BEFORE ITS EVEN DUE.

Insane.

Just...I'm beyond words with Autodesk at this point.

Appreciate others feel the same way.

Should really be sorted out ASAP, why say we can keep the same price if it's been increased without warning anyway (for the actual indie price that is).

I have the same with Maya. I got Maya indie and I just looked it up and here's what it shows. As such I stopped the auto-renew.

Auto-renew

1-year subscription expires on Jun 21, 2021
Term cost: CDN$2,015.00 (2015.00/seat)

Your subscription will expire and you will not be billed. Enable auto-renew above to maintain access.

Same again,

I paid £1782 in April. The Are You Eligible? webpage didn't lead anywhere, due to a dead link. For my efforts, I could not find any path to buying the indie version. I figured it had been dropped so I had no option but to buy at full price.

Now I've discovered otherwise, who and how do I contact?

Was going to get the indie version myself, that is until I started reading up.

No thanks, will stick with Blender...

Mine auto-renewed seamlessly today - @£276 for the next year.  That's exceptional value and helps those of us who are eligible enormously - keeps us in the game!

Also seems like Autodesk have gone a long way improving their system, making the renewal process very clear and transparent - with plenty of emails and information regarding renewals/prices on your products page.

Way to go!
