So I've recently swapped to having all my files located on my local Box folder, our company cloud storage software. Before hand I'd have everything stored locally and as you'd expect never had an issue with bitmap locations being lost. Now everything is stored essentially online its a bit hit and miss as to whether bitmaps will be loaded or not, often resulting in a big list of missing bitmaps errors. Missing bitmap scripts don't work when stuff is stored this way. My fix always manually involves just doubled clicking on the missing bitmap in the material editor, going to the bitmap location which never changed and just clicking on the file again which is still there. Its like Max just needs to wait a second longer for the file to show.
A second Issue that arises from this method of storage is that opening the Max file straight from Box sometimes results in just an empty untitled Max project opening instead. But if you open a fresh Max program from the desktop then go "File-Open" and find the scene within Box the scene opens just fine. You might then run into the Bitmap missing bug too, but like I said it's hit and miss.
Hope this all makes sense.
Thanks Matt
