3ds Max for the new MAC pro M1 Pro Max chip .... coming soon ?

I think its about time to reopen this topic since Apple announced their new Mac book pro with the revolutionary M1 pro Max chips.

I wonder if someone from Autodesk management has realized that not investing in native 3ds Max for Mac earlier was a big mistake .

Apple computers performance has exceeded all expectations , and I think they will keep doing that in the next few year.

What do you say ?

But you are aware that they are not the same software right ?

My argument is not about when its going to happen , but more why is not happening , and is there a good reasons to happen or not .

Hi @samehbijo ,

Thanks for your questions. 3ds Max was designed from Day One (starting back in 1995) to be Windows-specific. Although the new M1 chips from Apple are indeed impressive, porting 3ds Max from Windows architecture to MacOS would be a monumental undertaking, and it's highly doubtful that the return on that effort would be worth the cost of development.

Sorry for the bad news, but those are the business realities at the moment.

why do you have Maya software running on m1 mac, you talk about developing software from scratch,
people spend years trying to learn the interfaces of these software,
no one expects you to release exactly the same software
These two softwares are 95% similar to each other.
what you need to do is to develop the interface of 3dsmax software for maya software,
I guess you won't say that it's too hard to do,
it probably won't take 6 months to do this,

I cant belive that some people are still suggesting learning a new software as a solution for this issue , are you aware that a different sofware is not only the interface ? its plug-ins , pipline , customized tools , scripts , workflow m integration ..... so please , lets stop this 95% similar , I can work on Max and Maya , and they are not even close to 95 percent to each other .

or Rather you might suggest learning Blender , since its free , and it works on my Mac book laptop and my Windows workstation , and ditch this whole creative decisions based purely on business decisions .

God, yes, these requests with enviable regularity appear on the network here and there! Have the bosses from Autodesk still not realized that users are very hungry for 3ds max for macos!
Not long ago, Apple announced tools for transferring X86 native programs to Apple Silicone! HERE IS YOUR CHANCE - AUTODESK! Wake up!!! Finally do what your loyal users ask you to do!
All creatives dream of working on macOS, but one essential work app has yet to be made for macOS!
I support all previous support messages towards the development of our beloved 3ds max!

We are still waiting for Apple Silicon version of Max!

Before one started writing his own scripts or messing up with Maya's/3ds max code and learns both these software in depth, one uses a lot "just" in his posts.

Afterwards, things shift from trivial to extreme and unprofitable.

I wonder how Apple's release of the Game Porting Toolkit will affect this. It allows for DX12 games to run on Apple Silicon. Perhaps Autodesk can use that to port 3ds Max?

Of course Autodesk can use this tool! But for some reason they don't. Why??? Nobody knows, but we're all really looking forward to it!!!

Nonsense, if 3DS Max for MacOS appears, a huge number of new single users and entire studios will appear. Only among my acquaintances are about 100 people who would gladly take 3ds max to work in mac os.
