3ds max application error

Anonymous
Not applicable

I've been experiencing a problem with my 3ds max. After working for a short while the screen freezes and there is an error message that says "application will now close" and my work gets autosaved. I ave tried the options given by autodesk and I have done the following:

1. Updated my graphics driver.

2. Changed the display driver in 3ds max

3. disabled plug-in  (I only have vray installed)

4. enabled the plug-in again

5. Deleted user specific folders

6. Uninstalled and installed 3ds max

I cant seem to figure out what else to try and I have run out of solutions to find. Please help.0EM3A0000001YMB.jpg

That is a crash dump errror something in your scene is causing max to crash the only way to read that file is to have the ms symbols and the debug tool, but you need to know what your looking at.

you can alway try merging your scene into a new one and see if it crashes if it does then you know what model is causing the scene to crash, and you don't merge that one,

how much memory do you have inside your computer?

try updating your service pack and hotfix https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/3ds-max/downloads

Also if this information is of any help: This problem started 2 weeks ago when i was working on a project and max crashed with a message saying "The file has been corrupted"

And since then not only that project but the other ones too started crashing, not with a "corrupted file" message but with the error message saying "the application will now close". Its happening with newly opened projects too, where I have only made a plane and a wall.

I have tried the following solutions :

1. Update my graphics card

2. Change my display driver

3. Renamed "2019-64 bit folder" in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Autodesk\3dsMax

5. Switched on Increment saving from the Preferences tab.

6. Reset Preferences.

7. Uninstalled and reinstalled 3ds max.

Also, I have a vray plugin.

If this information helps : I installed Vray as soon as installed Max about 5 months ago and these error messages have started showing just recently from about 2 weeks.

go to the start icon and in the black box type in event viewer and windows will bring it up and then go to windows logs and then applications. look how any error warning and then double click on it windows will give you a short description of what is causing the crash. run that through google with the 3ds max and then the error message it will LIKELY give you an answer what is causing the problem.

why not unistall vray and see if max still crashes,.

if you think it mite be the vray that is causing the crash then you would need to contact chaos group because they are the people who did the plugin. we cannot help with third party plugins.

l, ,m almost certain that it isnt vray that is causing it. Becasue ,before these messages started appearing I had made lot of projects using vray and it never happened.

Although some time ago when i was working on one project, it crashed with a "corrupted file" , message and since then , every project i start just crashes sometimes but with the error message.

Also , I am attaching a picture of what you had asked me to do.

I havent found any error logs.Screenshot (48).png

sorry your in the wrong part you need to double click on windows logs and then applications, then look for any error or warning windows will give you a short description of what is causing it,

sometime if the scene crashes it's maybe due to one model, if you start a new scene file and and merge one model at a time until you max crashes then you know which model is it causing the crash, and then you don't merge that model. once everytime is golden. you will need to remodel that model and then remerge it into your new scene file.

save that out as a new scene file name and delete the old one,

if this doesn't help then i would ask that you upload the file and let someone take a look at the file and see if they can get it to open.

due to i having a lower version of max i won't able to open it,

Risoza,

If 3ds Max is crashing repeatedly, is it allowing you to submit a customer error report (CER), with your email address? If so, can you please confirm that you've submitted those reports, and then send me a private message with either your email address that you've included in the reports, or post the actual CER numbers here so I can look up your crashes in our database? (Also, can you please confirm that you're running the 3ds Max Security Tools in your software?)

Submitting the CERs will indicate (to us) the exact program module in which 3ds Max is crashing -- whether Max, a plugin, a graphics driver or a Windows component itself. Being able to look at your CERs will help us narrow down the issue much more quickly, so please let us know!
