3ds max 2025 vs 3ds max 2015

Hi,

I am a neonatal in 3ds max world. I need some guidance from seniors. I am going to start a thorough course on 3ds max. Paid course. I have one on 3ds max 2025. another one on 3ds max 2015. I liked the introductory outline of what the course will teach from the old one (3ds max 2015).

Now, What I want to know from seniors who have used this software for over a decade - do these two versions have  lots of  differences?? Will it be a total waste of time if I start my journey of 3ds max with this old one (3ds max 2015)?? Or there are so many updates that the course on 2025 will be  the best pick?  I am after knowing the basics. very very basic. like what is spline, How to model a clock etc. Just to understand the A.B.C of 3ds Max. I want a solid foundation.

I also study 3ds max from its site when I dnt understand something and also watch related tutorials on youtube.. Just tell me is it a good idea or not?

"The Basics" are arguably the same now as they were then. However, in terms of learning, why waste time with old software when the new one will supplant that info? Since you are new, starting with 2015 would introduce you to many 3ds Max basics that are out of date. There's no reason to learn old software first unless it's the only version you have access to.

I would equate starting with old software like learning to play the drums without lessons. Often, self-taught drummers engrain poor technique that either holds them back from improvement or forces them to spend double the practice time to re-learn properly. 

Choose today, get to work instead of worrying about old knowledge, keep moving forward, and don't look back!
