3DS Max 2023's new Working Pivots don't work at sub-object level Edit Poly modifier when animating polys ?

I tried using the new Working Pivots  introduced in 3DS Max 2023  as I want animated the rotation of polys about an edge (so I need to move the working pivot to be on that edge)...... and it Working Pivots doesn't work when the Auto Key button is switched on.....

How is that? And what can be the workaround?

It's a little difficult to grasp exactly what you are doing. Can you provide a screen capture showing the issue you are having?

Working Pivots cannot be animated. You can use the Working Pivot to help place helper nodes that you utilize in Animation.

@JezEmin

You aren't wanting to animate the pivot are you? I think just want to get a pivot to a particular coordinate or element. Once the pivot is there, you can certainly animate the geometry with the working pivot providing the pivot coordinate.

Thanks guys, from memory it's an issue when you press the Auto-Key or Set Key button is active.  Try creating a plane with multiple polygons.  Then, say you want to animate the rotation of a polygon about an edge.  You select the polygon but the pivot of that polygon is its centre.  So, you use Working Pivots so that you can put the pivot to the edge you want that polygon to rotate about, so you can animate THE POLYGON (about that edge).  Trouble is, as soon as you activate the Auto-Key or Set Key button, the Working Pivot is ignored, the Transform Axis it greyed out ( can't remember if that's what the button at the top toolbar is called) and the Pivot reverts to the polygon's centre again......

Does that make sense? (I'm not at my copy of 3DS Max, so this is all from memory here).  I overcame the issue by using Dummies and LinkedXForm, but that was my first attempt at using Working Pivots and for me, it didn't perform as expected whilst trying to animate at sub-object level (I think 3DS Max has always been like this with regards to Working Pivots though and sub-object levels???).

Yes! I am experiencing this issue and cannot find a solution, I am going out of my mind! Using LinkXForm is not working either..

I have class later and will ask my professor. I'll post if I find anything out

In Preferences - Animation we have "Local Center During Animate" checked by default..

Uncheck it to use any center.

And that's not only for sub-object animation.
